Parry Sound Muskoka MPP Norm Miller is not impressed with implications from a leaked document concerning Ontario’s Climate Change Action Plan. This morning, the Toronto Star released details from a large document that was said to be the most recent draft of the plan from the liberal party. According to the details released, the liberals would look to offer incentives to residents to purchase energy friendly vehicles and overhaul their homes. Miller says, this is just tax payer money being used to get tax payers to make these upgrades.
He says instead of bribing residents with tax dollars the government should be following BC’s lead.
One of the details in the document says the liberals will offer money to residents that want to trade in their gas guzzler for an electric or hybrid vehicle. Residents will also be offered a $1,000 incentive to install a charging station at their home.
Miller says the PC caucus would look to put a price on carbon, but return this money to tax payers through income tax or reductions in corporate tax. The full document is expected to be presented tomorrow.
