Motorists are being reminded to look out for wildlife on the road

Police and the Ministry of Transportation wants everyone to take precautions to prevent collisions with wildlife.  West Parry Sound OPP urges motorists to monitor their speed, particularly at night, avoid over driving the illumination of their headlights and scan the highway ahead as far as possible, with special attention to the road side.  Police also remind drivers to watch for yellow wildlife warning signs and slow down in those areas, use high beam headlights at night when possible, and don’t drive distracted by phones or other activities.  Officers say the higher the speed, the more severe the impact and even a small reduction in speed can make a big difference in a driver’s ability to avoid a collision.
