Emsdale man fined after shooting at MNRF decoy

A man from Emsdale has been fined for shooting his rifle on a public street.  The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says they set up a deer decoy along Bevan Road, just west of Kearney.  The reason was to help address public complaints about unsafe hunting practices in the area, including shooting from vehicles and across roadways.  Later that day, the man was seen driving his off-road vehicle in the area and shot twice at the decoy and was arrested.  The man was fined $2,000 for unsafe hunting practices.
