Feeding deer in the fall could lead to problems

The Ministry of Natural Resources is asking everyone to not feed the deer.  During the winter season, white-tailed deer are normally seen being fed in the Parry Sound area. MNR Biologist, Leanne Leduc says deer are already prepared for the winter season due to the natural foods they consume.

Leduc says there are other ways to help them survive the winter season.

She says white tailed deer can increase their risk of metabolic changes and diseases if fed with artificial foods but says if you’ve started feeding them you shouldn’t stop.

She says during the winter season, deer normally look to stems and trees for food since they have consumed their natural foods over the spring and summer seasons.
