Highway 559 gets attention from MTO after special council meeting

Carling Township is seeing immediate action from last week’s meeting with the Ministry of Transportation.

Carling council spoke to the MTO last Tuesday to address several concerns about the state of Highway 559. The concern was the state of the tar and chip repair on the highway done by the MTO. The township received several complaints from residents about multiple potholes along the recently repaired road.

According to Megan Bonenfant from Carling Township, repairs to the roads were completed earlier this week.

However, she says the temporary repairs are just the beginning.

Bonenfant says that means resurfacing the road with a more permanent asphalt. In order to make this this happen, Bonenfant says another meeting will be set up with the MTO by Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller.
