The Bob Beaumont U13 / U15 tournament is being held at the B.O.C.C. this weekend with games beginning today at 3 with the Shamrocks hosting the Beaton Stingers in U15 play. In U13 action Parry Sound hosts the Blind River Thunder at 7 and the U15 Shamrocks wrap up local play against Huntsville at 8. Looking ahead to Saturday the locals have games at 1 and 2 p.m. and 6 and 7 p.m. The Moose will be posting updates all weekend and encourage locals to cheer on the Shamrocks

Calling all basketball parents.

Parry Sound Stingers basketball is encouraging parents to get their boys registered for REP basketball as early as possible.

Their goal this year is to get the teams practicing outside in September/October so having them register in the next few days will allow coaches to reach out to the players and find times to start practicing.

Normally the season starts in October but the club hopes to make use of good weather now and get a jump start on things.

Hope everyone had a great summer  and although the weather isn't feeling like it lately, it's not over yet!

I wanted to reach out to you to encourage you to get your boys registered if they are thinking of playing REP basketball this coming year.

All practices will be distanced and non-contact with their own balls.

There is no cost to register, fees will be determined at a later date. Previous players are asked to let anyone know who might be interested in playing.

Dates have been set for the OMHA Peewee B Championship series between the Hall Construction Peewees and the Lambeth Lancers.

The B.O.C.C. will be the site for games one and two this weekend before the series switches to Lambeth for games three and four.

Saturday’s game one gets underway at the B.O.C.C. at 6:00 p.m. with game two Sunday afternoon at 3.

The next two scheduled games are in Lambeth on the 21^st and 22^nd.

Game four is scheduled for Saturday on the road and game 5 if needed will be back at the B.O.C.C. Sunday evening at 5:30.

The MPSLL Midget Local League Championships are on this weekend with all but one game at the B.O.C.C.

Games get underway tonight (Friday) and continue through Sunday with the lone “away” game being played tonight at 6:30 in Huntsville with Huntsville Duke Engineering playing the Almaguin Ice Devils.

At the B.O.C.C. tonight at 7, Parry Sound Tamarack North plays Huntsville Heather Douglas.

First games on Saturday have South Muskoka Muskoka KIA playing Parry Sound Doherty’s Masonry at 9:00 a.m. and Highland Total Site Service playing South Muskoka Dominos Pizza at 10:15a.m.

The schedule has been set for the Hall Construction Peewees semi-final series with Saugeen Shores.

The series will kick off with a pair of games at the B.O.C.C. Saturday and Sunday.

Game one is set for Saturday evening at 7 with game two Sunday afternoon at 2.

The series will then swing to Port Elgin om March 6^th and 7^th.

Game 5 if needed will be back at the B.O.C.C. on Sunday March 8^th at 5:30 p.m.

20 Bantam and Midget teams participated in the Shamrock Challenge Bantam Midget Local League Tournament held over the weekend at the B.O.C.C.

Parry Sound was represented in Bantam play by Parry Sound Auto Parts, Sifft Electric and Parry Sound No Frills.

On the Midget side teams representing the Shamrock name were Parry Sound Doherty’s Masonry, Muskoka Auto Parts and Tamarack North.

Parry Sound wound up victorious in both Bantams and Midget play with the Parry Sound Auto Parts squad winning Bantam and Muskoka Auto Parts securing the Midget title.

The Bantams were 3-2 victors over the Clearview Canucks while the midgets scored a 3-2 win over the Thornton Tigers.

The Hall Construction Peewees down the Prince Edward County Kings 3-2 Sunday night to win their quarter-final series and advance into the semis against the Saugeen Shores Storm.

Parry Sound headed into the weekend up 2-0 on a pair of home wins but dropped games 3 and 4 on the road necessitating game five at the B.O.C.C.

After taking a 2-0 game lead the Hall Construction Peewees lost two in a row in Wellington Friday and Saturday and their series with the Prince Edward County Kings is now tied at two.

Fans are being encouraged to head down to the BOCC, Sunday February 23rd to  cheer on  the locals in the do-or-die game 5 of the OMHA Quarter Finals.

The Hall Construction Peewees have taken a commanding two games to none lead in their playoff series with the Prince Edward County Kings.

The Peewees scored 5-0 and 3-1 victories at home over the weekend and now hit the road for game three and four in Wellington next Friday and Saturday. (Feb.21, 22^nd).

Should a game five be needed it will be at the B.O.C.C. Sunday February 23^rd at 6:15 p.m.

The Hall Construction Peewees are gearing up for their next post season series against the Prince Edward County Kings.

The locals are set to kick off the series at home Saturday afternoon at 4:30 (Feb.15) and Sunday afternoon (Feb.16) at 2:30.

The series then switches to Wellington for games on the 21st and 22nd.

The Hall Construction Peewees have advanced to the next round of the O.M.H.A. Playoffs.

The Peewees shut out Elmvale 2-0 in Sunday's game five of their series. They will face Prince Edward County in the next round.

Game schedule for the next round have not been announced.

There’s plenty of local hockey this weekend with the feature event being the Shamrock Major Novice Local League Tournament that runs Friday through Sunday.

Parry Sound will be represented by the Optimist Club Major Novices.

First games for the Shamrocks is against Barrie at 3 pm and Sudbury at 7 pm Friday.

All games are at the B.O.C.C.

Meanwhile, second round playoffs resume this weekend on three fronts.

The Rotary Club Atoms who bounced back with a win in game three Tuesday night against the Penetang Flames are down 2-1 in the series that resumes Saturday night at 6:30 at the B.O.C.C.

The Hall Construction Peewees take a 2-0 series lead against the Elmvale Coyotes Friday night on the road.

The Ritchie Insurance Bantams trail the Collingwood Blackhawks 2-0 in games and play Friday night on the road.

Second round playoff action kicked off this weekend, and not the start the Rotary Club Atoms had hoped for as they dropped both games to the Penetang Flames. Scores were 5-0 and 6-2 for the Flames. Game three is Tuesday in Penetang.

It was the opposite result for the Hall Construction Peewees as they took both games against Elmvale, scoring a 6-3 win on Friday and 4-3 on Sunday. Third game in the series is Friday night in Elmvale.

The Collingwood Blackhawks have taken a two nothing lead over the Ritchie Insurance Bantams by virtue of 4-1 and 5-3 wins in the opening games of their second round series. Game three in this set will be Friday night in Collingwood.

The local hockey playoff season continues this weekend with round two series.

The Rotary Club Atoms advanced by downing the Oro Thunder and now kick off a best of five series against the Penetang Flames Saturday with game one in Penetang, game two is back at the B.O.C.C. on Sunday evening at 6:30.

Bouncing back from a two game deficit to win their best of five against the Midland Centennials, the Ritchie Insurance Bantams launch their second round series against the Collingwood Blackhawks on the road tonight. Game two is Saturday evening at home at 6:45.

The Hall Construction Peewees secured a second round berth with a 5-2 win Tuesday night over the Penetang Flames. The Peewees will start their second round series against the Elmvale Coyotes tonight at the B.O.C.C. at 7:15. Game two is in Humphrey Sunday afternoon at 2:30.

It was a successful weekend for both Parry Sound teams entered into the annual Bobby Orr Peewee-Bantam tournament staged over the weekend.

Both host teams, the Ritchie Insurance Bantams and the Hall Construction Peewees went through the tournament undefeated to claim the title.

The peewees wrapped the tournament with a 4-1 win over Elmvale while the Bantams scored a 3-2 overtime win over Essa in the final.

Meanwhile the Brokerlink Midgets had a great weekend at the Steel City Tournament in Sault Ste. Marie suffering just a single loss in six games winning the tournament with a 2-0 shutout victory over Schumacher.
