Blue-Green Algae tests for Horseshoe Lake Beach come back positive

Tests results for possible blue-green algae bloom at Horseshoe Lake Beach (21 McKaig Drive) are back from the North Bay – Parry Sound Health Unit and they are positive for the algae. Although the tests were conducted at the beach, there is a possibility bloom could be anywhere in the lake. Residents and visitors are being advised not to use the water from the Lake for drinking, cooking or bathing. Boiling the water or using home water treatment devices will NOT destroy the toxins. They also suggest avoiding swimming and other water sport activities, keep pets clear of the water and caution is advised when eating fish caught where blue-green algae exists. Seguin Township has had the beach posted for a few days now awaiting the test results.
