As the school year approaches both of our local Food banks are looking to re-stock their shelves in preparation for the expected increase in need, particularly when it comes to parents having food to use in the preparation of lunches for their children. A “pre-school” Food Drive will be held by Harvest Share this Saturday, August 15th from 10:00 a.m. until 3 at No-Frills. Lunch items in demand include juice boxes and sandwich fixings but donations of all types of food items are needed. Donations for Harvest Share can also be dropped off at Harvest Share on Miller Street and more information is available by calling 705-774-9111.
The Salvation Army will also hold a Food Drive on Friday, August 28th at No-Frills from 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. A reminder that Salvation Army “blue barrels” are can be found at Walmart, Sobeys, and The Bargain Shoppe for donations.Â
