Legislation to increase road safety by increasing fines

The Ontario government just passed another legislation to increase road safety.  The Making Ontario’s Roads Safer Act will increase fines for distracted driving from a minimum of 60 dollars, to now a minimum of three hundred dollars.  Other changes will include applying the current sanctions for alcohol-impaired drivers to those who are impaired by drugs.  It’s also going to allow a broader range of medical professionals to report medically unfit drivers.  The new fines are set to come into force over the next few months.
