Community Living Parry Sound yard sale and market set for May 30

Community Living Parry Sound is gearing up to hosting its second annual community yard sale and market.

The event will take place at Kinsmen Park on May 30 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine.

According to organizers, the community yard sale and market held for the first time last year was brought back by popular demand. This year, they doubled the number of spaces available to sellers, and sold out almost instantly.

“Part of our work at Community Living Parry Sound is to create opportunities for social inclusion. Rather than a segregated event open only to people who use our services, the community yard sale and market is open to anyone who wants to sell or buy,” said organizer Sarah Cassidy, executive assistant at Community Living Parry Sound. “This event was really created as a way to bring the community together in one place.”

Cassidy said the event will have an eclectic array of vendors, from artisan craftspeople, to local businesses clearing out their storerooms, to charities selling merch.

For a small donation, vendors secured a spot at the event and will keep all of their earnings.
“It’s a fantastic way for small organizations to get out into the community and raise money for their causes,” she said.

The community yard sale and market will also offer concession refreshments.
