Parry Sound Salvation Army collecting backpacks, school supplies for kids in need

The Parry Sound Salvation Army is once again collecting backpacks and school supplies for local children in need.

Community and Family Services coordinator Caroline Claridge says the program is about making kids feel excited and confident heading back to school.

“A new backpack and new school supplies may seem small and insignificant to some people, but it can mean the difference between walking into school that first day with confidence….or walking in without that confidence.”

Claridge says the Salvation Army distributes between 100 and 130 backpacks per year.

Donations are currently being collected at the Salvation Army and 103.3 Moose FM.  Backpacks, paper, binders, pens, markers and other school supplies can be dropped off at either location.
