The West Parry Sound Area’s fire danger rating has moved to Extreme.
Gord Harrison, the region’s Fire Coordinator, says we’ve had really hot dry conditions lately adding fire danger ratings are extreme throughout Northern Ontario at this point in time.
“We’re asking everybody to be aware that means that’s a fire ban, no campfires at all. Everybody needs to be extremely careful with fire right now. And if you see fire, call 911 right away because we need to get water on those fires as quickly as possible,” he says.
In addition, during this time residents cannot have any fire permits, fireworks, and daytime burning is prohibited.
Harrison says with very little rain in the forecast everyone needs to be careful and vigilant.
He says to contact your municipality to find out about burning regulations in your area.
