If you’re looking for a trail in the area, there’s a map for that.
Discovery Routes has put together a new Adventure Trails Map including over a thousand kilometres of trails from Mattawa to Magnetawan and Marten River to French River.
“We’ve got some new content on it,” says Jennifer McCourt, Executive Director. “A little bit more information about the fantastic paddling routes we have across the region. Some new hiking trails and some new cycling experiences [including] road routes and gravel routes that are all the rage these days.”
There are trails for all four seasons, including cross-country skiing.
The new map updates one that was created in 2020.
McCourt says during the pandemic there was an increased demand for all things outdoors.
“We’ve seen an increase in trail use all across the region,” she says. “It’s one of those activities that really all you need is a sturdy pair of shoes, and you can get out and explore. Being in nature really helps to relieve the stresses and distractions in our lives.”
The new maps are $10 with proceeds supporting charitable programs at Discovery Routes that reduce barriers to participation such as the ReCycle Bikes donation program.
The maps are available online at the Discovery Routes website, their office at 205 Main Street East in North Bay, municipal offices across Almaguin Highlands and some retailers.
