Special weather statement for July 20

Environment Canada is advising of the potential of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening for our region.

Moose FM will update with any alerts / warnings as the day progresses

The special weather statement has been issued for:

The Town of Parry Sound / – Rosseau – Killbear Park / Bayfield Inlet – Dunchurch

as well as Huntsville – Baysville / Port Carling – Port Severn / South River – Burk’s Falls

Thunderstorms are expected to develop over eastern Michigan or Lake Huron this afternoon, then track eastward through the evening. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat, though large hail and a few tornadoes are also possible. A significant tornado cannot be ruled out.

The threat of severe weather should decrease as storms move east this evening.
