Above-average KPI survey results and genomics MOU at Canadore

Canadore is above the Ontario College System average when it comes to four Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

KPI survey results for 2019-2020 were released this week and show the Employer satisfaction rate was 100 percent at Canadore.

“Canadore College works closely with industry to determine workforce needs,” said Canadore President and CEO George Burton.  “The fact that our employer satisfaction rate is 100% is evidence we’re doing something right.”

The college was also above the college system average with their graduation rate, graduate employment rate and graduate satisfaction.

  • 68.4% of students enrolled at Canadore graduated.  The provincial average is 65.9%;

  • 87.8% of Canadore graduates were employed six months after graduation, compared to 77% province-wide; and

  • 82.3% of Canadore graduates acknowledged that their college experience was useful to them in achieving their goals after graduation.  The provincial average is 78%.

 “We are pleased with Canadore’s KPI results, especially considering the impacts of COVID-19.  Canadore students persevered through new hybrid delivery models and delayed academic opportunities.  Not only did they successfully complete their educational journey, but they are succeeding in the workforce as well,” said Burton.

Canadore, meantime, has joined with Loyalist College in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ontario Genomics.

Goals include driving economic growth and improving quality of life.

Students will benefit from learning opportunities and genomics-based solutions being applied to real-world business challenges.

“The three partners will work together to spur industry-led applied research opportunities in genomics-related fields for the purposes of advancing local/regional economies and advancing the overall global competitiveness of the participating industry partners,” states a release.

Ontario Genomics’ projects range from novel diagnostics for disease detection or precision medicine, to genomics-based breeding of plants and animals, to DNA monitoring for a healthier environment to optimizing microbial communities to make in-demand products.
