Golf reopening efforts make good case says Dr. Chirico

The district’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico thinks a very good case can be made to reopen golf courses during the provincial stay-at-home order.

Golf courses around Ontario were shuttered earlier this month when the order took effect, but some local Golf organizations are making the argument to reopen them.

“There are many sports Sports and things that you can do safely, but it’s all the other things surrounding it and if people do it (the sport) as they’re supposed to be doing it, then yes there is potential for that (Golf reopening) to happen, but it is the Premier’s decision to make,” he said.

Dr. Chirico commented on a letter sent by Parry Sound Golf & Country Club to the Premier asking to un-shutter golf, saying he thinks the club has a good case to be made, however, the decision does lie ultimately with Ford and his Cabinet.
