Local six-graders working on Community Art Project on Humphrey Nature Trails

Grade 6-ers from a local Parry Sound school have been working on an amazing community art project recently.

The project was done by students from the Humphrey Public School with help from Whispering River Music (WRM) and Seguin Township.

Teacher Pam Moorhouse says students reflected on the emotions that rose during the pandemic, discussed their experiences and brainstormed questions that might encourage others to reflect on their experiences.

Moorhouse says after that, students spent time sketching while remotely listening to WRM music teachers Brenda Muller and Zach Louch play music that was inspired by the student’s questions.

Students then picked a question to focus on and created art responses painted onto wooden signs that were put in the woods on the Humphrey Nature Trails across the street.

The community is encouraged to add their artistic responses.

This project is the first part of a bigger Creative Communities project that Whispering River Music has embarked upon.
