Parry Sound goes up to three active cases over Easter Weekend

The local health unit reported two new COVID-19 cases from Parry Sound over the long weekend.

That places the district at three active cases of the virus with the health unit reporting one more person tested positive for the B.1.1.7 variant originating from the U.K.

In Nipissing, three cases and one recovery were added bringing that district up to eight active cases.

The health unit also reported a member of the Rosseau Lake College community tested positive for COVID-19 Friday, but no outbreak was declared at the college.

Four of the new cases, (#296-#299), three 20 to 39-year-olds and one 19 or younger who are now self-isolating, contracted the virus through close contact with a positive case.

Case number 295 is a 60 to 79-year old who contracted the virus through community transmission and was admitted to the hospital.

Another 3,718 vaccines were administered and over 800 tests for COVID-19 were done over Easter Weekend.
