Wind Warning Issued for the region

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Parry Sound – Rosseau – Killbear Park as well as Port Carling and Port Severn warning of potentially damaging winds tonight and Monday.

Strong west to northwesterly winds gusting up to 90 km/h are forecast to develop this evening along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Winds will likely diminish slightly Monday morning but will strengthen again Monday afternoon. Gusts up to 90 km/h will be possible Monday afternoon. The winds are forecast to diminish Monday evening.

Power outages are possible.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Today Increasing cloudiness. 60 percent chance of showers late this afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. Wind southeast 30 km/h gusting to 50. High 6. UV index 3 or moderate.
Tonight A few rain showers ending near midnight then cloudy with periods of snow and local blowing snow beginning before morning. Risk of a thunderstorm this evening. Local snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 60 becoming west 60 gusting to 90 near midnight. Low minus 4. Wind chill minus 11 overnight.
Monday A mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of flurries in the morning. Flurries at times heavy beginning in the morning. Local blowing snow. Local amount 5 cm. Wind northwest 50 km/h gusting to 80. Temperature falling to minus 14 in the afternoon. Wind chill minus 11 in the morning and minus 24 in the afternoon. UV index 1 or low.
