A COVID-19 Outbreak was declared Saturday at the McDonald’s on Bowes Street.

The local health unit declared the outbreak after four restaurant employees tested positive.

Anyone who visited the McDonald’s drive-thru at 118 Bowes Street in the Town of Parry Sound between February 5 and February 19th is advised to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and should symptoms develop, immediately self-isolate and contact the local assessment centre for testing.

Officials said to date, two of the four individuals have a preliminary positive test result for a Variant of Concern.

All four individuals reside outside of the Health Unit district and are currently self-isolating.

The Health Unit said it is investigating the outbreak, and case management and contact tracing is being conducted by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Officials stated “at this time there is no risk to the public and the restaurant is still permitted to operate drive-thru services. Under the provincial Shutdown restrictions and Stay-at-Home Order, restaurants are not open for in-person dining.”
