Federation Of Northern Ontario Municipalities To Meet Virtually For 2021 Annual Conference

Things will be a little different when the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) gets together next year.

With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario, FONOM’s Board of Directors will be hosting its 2021 Annual Conference virtually.

The program will include the Board’s annual report and finances, engagement by senior levels of government, a presentation on broadband and how our region is contributing to the green economy.

To help with financial costs, the virtual format will provide a venue for the Board to connect with its membership at no charge.

“It’s important that we stay connected with our membership during this time. Our committee has already started to create content that will be of interest to our region in this new format,”  FONOM President Danny Whalen said.

Meanwhile, the FONOM Board has also launched a campaign showcasing Northern Ontario as a healthy place to do business.

Supported by the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, the GoNorth Campaign involves the creation of eight videos that will be shared through social media with business communities in the GTHA.

Planning for the conference is now underway and it will be hosted by the City of Timmins.
