Canadore College Reporting Positive Case Of COVID-19

Canadore College is reporting a case of COVID-19 in its community.

The college says on Thursday, it was reported that someone had tested positive for the virus and is now self-isolating.

Canadore is not confirming if the case in question involves an employee or student but has confirmed the individual has not been on campus and continues to work/study remotely.

The college says they believe this person acquired the virus through travel and there is no evidence of on-campus transmission of COVID-19, and on-campus activity continues.

“On behalf of the College community, I wish a speedy recovery to the person affected,” Canadore President George Burton said. “The health and safety of everyone remain our number one priority, and we all have a role to play to protect ourselves and our colleagues.”

Canadore says it has an extensive pandemic plan in place.

Every student and employee has to pass an online COVID-19 self-assessment – which asks about possible symptoms and exposure, before being allowed into any campus building.

Once inside a campus building, everyone must wear a facial covering and if their program requires it, personal protective equipment is also mandatory.

The school says enhanced cleaning, sanitizing routines and physical distancing measures are also in place.

The college asks everyone to remain vigilant while on-campus and off-campus.
