Canadore Enrolment Stays Steady Despite Pandemic

Despite COVID-19, enrolment at Canadore College has stayed relatively consistent.

The college announced Wednesday that student numbers remain steady with 2,196 in total enrolled at its North Bay and Parry Sound campuses.

That’s only 161 fewer students than projected before the pandemic hit.

“Our employees have put in a tremendous effort to make sure our business of teaching and learning continues,” Canadore President George Burton said.  “We will stay vigilant to a positive year despite the circumstances.”

Due to the country’s border restrictions, International registration in North Bay is down by 30 percent.

With the federal government beginning to loosen some of those restrictions, the college expects it’s international numbers to rise.

“We are planning for the numbers to improve in North Bay for the winter term,” Burton said. “We hope to make up the domestic shortfall in the winter term as well.”

The College’s President says the strong partnerships Canadore has with Indigenous Institutes across Ontario, and its Toronto partner The Stanford International College of Business and Technology, are making up for the enrolment shortfall.

Burton adds that the one thing that has not changed during the pandemic is the quality programs and services offered at Canadore.
