Health Unit does not support Trick-or-Treating

Our local Health Unit is not in favour of trick-or-treating.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says it recognizes the efforts the district has put into following the COVID-19 public health protocols but as far as Halloween is concerned they do not recommend door-to-door trick-or-treating or congregating with others outside of your household.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Doctor Jim Chirico says “ The province is not recommending trick-or-treating in the Ottawa, Peel, Toronto and York Regions. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in our district I do not recommend trick-or-treating locally “We need to act now to help stop the spread of COVID-19. These activities could allow the virus to spread more easily.”

The Health Unit does suggest some ways of celebrating Halloween without trick or treating including hosting a treat hunt with members of your household, having a virtual costume show with your friends or decorate your household or hold your own Monster Mash Party within your household.
