UPDATE: Second COVID-19 case identified at Chippewa Secondary School

UPDATE @ 4:30 PM: The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has announced a second positive COVID-19 case at Chippewa Secondary School.

“The Health Unit has not declared an outbreak, as the cases do not have an epidemiological link, meaning they are not a part of the same class or cohort and transmission took place outside the school,” they say in a statement. “The Health Unit is working with the school board to ensure that all close contacts are contacted directly. The individual is currently self-isolating.”

The North Bay Parry Sound District Heath Unit has confirmed a new positive lab-confirmed case of COVID-19.

Original story:
The infected person has been confirmed to come from a school within the Nipissing District, but the specific school was not specified by the Health Unit.
“The Health Unit is working with the school board to ensure that all close contacts are contacted directly,” the unit says in a statement to the MyParrySound.com newsroom. “The individual is currently self-isolating. It is known that the individual is a close contact of another positive COVID-19 case in our district and there is no evidence to suggest that this case was exposed at school. At this time there is no outbreak at the school.”
The North Parry Sound District Health Unit is reporting three active cases of the coronavirus in their medical region. All three were due to close contact with another case and all of them are self-isolating.
