Radiothon today in support of West Parry Sound Health Centre

Today (July 23rd) marks our 11th annual Radiothon in support of the West Parry Sound Health Centre and to date our listeners have raised close to $300,000 for new and replacement equipment for our local hospital.

The Health Centre celebrated its 15th anniversary in April and some of the original equipment must be replaced by the end of 2020.

All four of the units in the X-ray Department must be replaced by year’s end at a cost of $1.6 million and with our radiothon we hope to raise enough that the Hospital can replace two mobile X-Ray machines. Each machine costs $204,000.

At present there is a matching gift from John and Lori from Muskoka Woods camp for $100,000 of which some 83% has been raised so far and we hope that by the end of today to raise the difference and enable the Health Centre to purchase the one of two mobile X-Ray machines and start to put a dent in the $1.6 million goal to replace the 15 year old Fluoroscopy  and general x-ray machines and second mobile unit.

With the COVI-19 pandemic we’ve had to make adjustments to how we conduct the Radiothon.

Our building has been in lock-down since March and in order to “physical distance” all calls this year will answered by volunteers at the Hospital.

The number to call this year is 1-888-262-0436 or donate on-line at http://www.loveourhospital.com/
