Sudbury Man Charged For Operating Boat While Impaired
West Parry Sound OPP’s Marine Unit was keeping busy over the weekend.
On Friday, members of the unit were patrolling the waters of Georgian Bay in Wallbridge Township, North of Parry Sound.
Around 8:30 p.m., offices conducted a vessel check in the area and after speaking with the operator of a craft – they concluded alcohol had been consumed.
The man was arrested and taken to the local detachment for further testing.
As a result, a 34-year-old man from Sudbury was charged with multiple offences, including operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
He was also charged with failure to have proof of competency on board a pleasure craft and operating a boat with an open container of liquor.
The accused will be before a judge at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 20th.
He’s also been issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, West Parry Sound OPP’s Marine Unit say they were patrolling Crane Lake in Seguin Township.
Officers issued two 3-day license suspensions for alcohol-related offences.
