Local Organizations to mark World Environment Day with vigil on Friday

Climate Action Parry Sound, Fridays For Future and the Mary Street Centre will be marking World Environment Day on Friday on the lawn of St. James United Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. and running until noon.

The public is invited to bring a camp chair, yoga mat and any personal protective equipment that makes them feel safe. Social distancing will be in place. There is also the option of parking on the street or in the parking lot if you wish to stay in your car.

The ceremony will get underway at 11:30 a.m. ending with the ringing of the old church bell followed by ten minutes of silence when people are invited to take a knee if they wish to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter, Fridays For Future, World Environment Day, Pride Month and Covid-19 Victims and Front-Line workers.
