Canadian Blood Services will be back in Parry Sound this Friday for a blood donor clinic at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 2 until 7.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it new guidelines for giving blood, first and foremost is all staff and donors will need to be masked (masks will be provided to donors if needed) and no walk-ins will be allowed. Elaine St. Pierre says with summer on the horizon, now more than ever they need the continuing support of donors especially with hospitals resuming some surgeries and procedures.

By way of update to what donors can expect when donating blood during the pandemic, the following key points should be considered:
- Safety is our highest priority. Enhanced wellness measures are in effect throughout all of our donor centres.
- In order to comply with physical distancing requirements set out by Public Health Agency of Canada, we can now accommodate fewer donors at our events.
- Only those donors with appointments will be accepted into the site. No walk-ins are allowed at this time and no additional persons (family/friends/children) may accompany the donor.
- It is important to arrive at your appointment time, not earlier, as we will not be able to take you at an earlier time.
- Masks are mandatory for employees, volunteers and donors at all our centres. If you do not have a mask, a mask will be provided to you upon arrival.
- Please be prepared for additional screening at the door before you are welcomed into the clinic space. Upon arrival, donors will receive a temperature check at the donor wellness checkpoint. This will replace the temperature check that is normally conducted during the screening process. Please refrain from drinking a hot beverage 5-10 minutes before arriving to your appointment.

Reminder: We will only be welcoming people with appointments to our donor centres and mobile events. This measure will enable us to minimize the number of people inside our facilities and pre-screen all who come through our doors through the pre-screening questionnaire provided when appointments are booked.
