A 47-year-old man from Ore-Madonte Township is dead after an ultralight aircraft accident on Saturday afternoon.
During the noon hour Saturday Southern Georgian Bay O.P.P. responded to a report of a plane crash into the waters of Georgian Bay in the area of Pinery Point, Georgian Bay Township.
Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Marine Unit were also dispatched and officers recovered and transported the lone pilot to a County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Unit.
Despite their efforts the 47-year-old pilot was pronounced deceased.
The small ultralight aircraft being flown by the pilot sank at the crash scene and Transport Canada has been contacted to assist in the ongoing investigation.
