Icebreaking in Parry Sound area starts today

The Canadian Coast Guard’s Samuel Risley will be conducting ice breaking operations in the Parry Sound area today.

The annual operation is to break up ice allowing commercial vessels safe and efficient movement and is scheduled on or about April 1st, but the date is subject to change without notice depending on operational needs and weather conditions.

It is recommended that all traffic on the ice including pedestrians, fishers and ATV / Snowmobilers avoid the ice as these operations can cause ice movement and cause the ice to become unstable, even after the icebreaker leaves.
