Local food banks in Parry Sound Continue to serve

Both of Parry Sound’s food banks continue to provide service for the community and look for help from the community.

Harvest Share has set up a delivery hotline for those who are self isolating or unable to get out.

Callers will be prompted to leave their Name, Birth date, Phone Number, Number of People in Their Household and Address.

Harvest Share will call back with a delivery confirmation within 24 hours and they will organize the list of those in need EACH DAY and send them out the next day at noon for delivery.

The delivery hotline number is: 1-833-Food4HS OR 1-833-366-3447

The Food bank will still be operational on Tuesdays but ONLY by appointment. Screening questions will be asked when booking. Please call the office at 705-774-9111 to make an appointment.

If you are looking to drop off a non-perishable food donation please use the food bank’s side door which has a drop off slot.

The Food Bank needs to meet increased demand as people’s lives and economic welfare are disrupted. If you are considering sending a financial donation so that Harvest Share can purchase food you can do so on their website at: https://parrysoundharvestshare.com

The Salvation Army Food Bank is also still open to serve the needs of the community.

They like other facilities they have put safety procedures in place both for the protection of volunteers and clients.

They ask that clients who are not feeling well have someone pick up your food for you and the Salvation Army will accommodate your needs.

Clients will need to make an appointment ahead of time through the office or by calling the office at 705 746 5391. At the time of your appointment you will need to wait outside until it is time for your appointment.

Only one client at a time will be allowed in the Food Bank at a time.

With both Food Banks often the best donation is that of a grocery store gift card which allows them to purchase items that they are short of. Consider picking one up.
