UPDATE: Another COVID-19 case confirmed Sunday afternoon; total cases now 6

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s area is now up to six this (Sunday) afternoon.

The newest case is a man in his thirties and is self-isolating.  This case is the first case of community transmission, meaning the person got the virus in the community and may not be exactly sure where he contracted it.  All other cases involve travel.

Over the weekend the health unit confirmed two people in their 70’s who had been quarantined at CFB Trenton after being on a cruise ship had fallen ill.  They are self-isolating at home.  Another case is a man in his sixties who has returned from Florida.  He is also self-isolating at his home. The fourth case is a woman in her sixties that is self-isolating.  She too had just returned from Florida. The first case was announced on March 26th, a woman who had travelled internationally.

There have been 137 people tested in the area whose results have come back negative.
