Familiar face returns to Council in McDougall

A familiar face has returned to Council in McDougall as Councillor Kim Dixon resigns.

McDougall Township welcomed former three term Councillor Lewis Malott back to the Council table after Councillor Kim Dixon resigned.

After 18 years at the Council table Dixon decided to step down after becoming the successful candidate in the process to interview and hire a Chief Building Official for the Municipality.

Council at their March 18th meeting declared the seat vacant and at a special meeting on March 19th Council chose to appoint Lewis Malott, the runner up in the 2018 Municipal Election.

Council’s options to fill the vacated seat were to appoint someone who ran in the last election, call for members of the public to submit applications, or hold a by-election. Given Malott’s experience, Council decided that appointing him was the best option.
