Health Unit launches parenting campaign

PARRY SOUND, ON-The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is launching a campaign to help parents better connect with their children.

The health unit is reminding parents to listen, respond, connect with your child, and to help them work through their emotions.

During the campaign, posters and notices featuring key messages including keeping your child safe, taking care of yourself as a parent and helping your child grow will be displayed throughout Parry Sound at various businesses that will help raise awareness for parents and caregivers about a child’s need to feel safe, secure and loved.

Public Health Nurse Doris Chartrand said, “There is no such thing as a perfect parent and with today’s pressures to juggle demands, we want to reassure parents that even small moments with your child counts. Let your children play, let them get dirty and let them be kids. When the times comes and your child needs you, make time to connect, and listen to their concerns. They will feel important and supported which helps the, develop skills to get through difficult situations.”

For more information, call the health unit at 705-474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808 or by visiting the website here.
