Registration for Rotary “Strikes Against Cancer” 3-pitch tournament opens Thursday

The Rotary Club of West Parry Sound is gearing up for their second annual “Strikes Against Cancer” 3-pitch tournament on the Father’s Day weekend in June.

Registration for the tournament opens Thursday, February 13th at 9:00 a.m. at www.ps3pitch.com

The first 31 teams to register with the entry fee are guaranteed a spot.

Past President Dave Brunton says the Rotary are holding the registration fee at $250 (same as last years).

The goal for the two-day event also remains the same as 2019 at $70,000.

Last year’s event came up short of the goal, raising $55,000 despite what Dave Brunton describes as “monsoon” type weather and high winds. He also praised the teams last year for persevering through the weather.

This year’s tournament will also feature a number of activities through the Friday and Saturday including the Friday night pickerel dinner and live music from 5-time Country Music Association nominee for Male Vocalist of the Year Marshall Dane.

The always popular Jeff Young and Muskoka Roads will be returning to provide the entertainment on the Saturday night.

Back as well this year is the silent auction, barbecue, activities to keep the kids busy and new this year, Brunton says they are working out details on a Mini-Craft Beerfest featuring a number of local craft breweries.

Funds raised through the tournament go to Cancer care at the West Parry Sound Health Centre and local Rotary projects.
