Fill a Purse for a Sister comes to Parry Sound

PARRY SOUND, ON – A new initiative is being launched to help women in need’s lives a little bit better, but it requires the public’s help.

Sue Rivers is an employee of the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). She is taking on the lead for the Fill a Purse for a Sister campaign in Parry Sound.

The drive provides donations for women and children in crisis or need. The idea is for people to drop off new or gently used purses filled with personal necessities every women needs.

The campaign is currently underway, starting on September 1st and runs through December 1st.

Purses collected will go to Esprit Place Family Resource Centre in Parry Sound.

Some of the items that are needed most are shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, gift cards, whistles, feminine hygiene products, makeup, and more.

Rivers said there are items that are not allowed including worn or ripped purses, food and any used items.

Current dropoff locations are at The Parry Sound NE LHIN office at the hospital and JF Fitness & Therapy.

Staff at the Parry Sound LHIN office are campaigning and collecting purses. Rivers is appealing to the community to help her find another public drop off location.
