French River area sawmill operation getting federal funds for expansion

ALBAN, ON- A sawmill in the French River area is getting an infusion of federal funding.

Lahaie Lumber, which is located in Alban, has received a total of $775,000 repayable contribution from FedNor, a federal funding agency aimed at helping businesses in Northern Ontario.

The money will be going towards the purchase of equipment for a new sawmill, which is currently under construction. The company expects to double their current production capacity, enabling them to expand into new markets. Both local and regional transport services, as well as logging operations, are expected to benefit from a higher volume of material being made and shipped from the mill.

“We would like to thank the Government of Canada and FedNor for this investment,” said Mike Lahaie, owner and president, of the company.
