Parry Sound bank robbery suspect up for bail on Monday

BARRIE, ON- Avery Nickerson could be getting out of jail on Monday.

The 35-year-old was arrested last month in connection to a trio of bank robberies that occurred in Parry Sound and Orillia. In all three, a note had been passed to the teller after a man had walked into the bank, usually in the afternoon around 3:30.

The man in each robbery got away with undisclosed amount of cash. Nickerson was named by police as the suspect after the pair of robberies in Orillia on July 11th, which took place two days after a robbery in Parry Sound.

He was eventually arrested on July 17th in Barrie, and brought to Orillia for a video bail hearing.

He was not granted bail, and has been in custody in Penetanguishene while his case goes through the court system.

He is facing multiple charges, including two counts of robbery, and two counts of disguise with intent in connection to the Orillia robberies.

For Parry Sound, he is facing a charge of robbery with violence and two counts of failing to comply with probation.

His next court date is August 26th, by video in Barrie. He will be up for bail at that time.

It remains unclear at this time if he has a lawyer.
