Consultation sessions set for future of Wasauksing Swing Bridge

PARRY SOUND, ON- More information on the future of the bridge to Wasauksing First Nation will be presented by the federal government this month.

According to the Town of Parry Sound, Indigenous Service Canada has scheduled a public consultation meeting concerning future operations of the Wasauksing Swing Bridge.

The meeting will take place on August 21st at the Bobby Orr Community Centre. A meet and greet will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., while the presentation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The goal of the meeting, according to the federal agency, is to get public comment on the current and future operations of the bridge. It is owned by the federal government, and operated by Wasauksing First Nation.

That public input is described as being “invaluable” in making informed decisions for a “further restricted operating schedule” for future navigation seasons on the bridge.
