O.P.P. issued thousands of charges over the long weekend

ORILLIA, ON – Despite several awareness campaigns heading into it, the long weekend was a busy one for the O.P.P.

In a press release sent out from the O.P.P. headquarters, the police force said that over the long weekend officers issued 8,377 charges.

According to the O.P.P., aggressive driving accounted for the majority of the charges. 4,837 drivers were caught for speeding, and 128 for stunt driving.

On top of all the charges laid, two men lost their lives in collisions. Inattentive driving and excessive speed were reported as the primary cause of these incidents.

As part of the O.P.P.’s Move Over Campaign, they laid 355 charges in relation to drivers not abiding by that law.
