PARRY SOUND, ON- The police in Parry Sound had a busy long weekend.
The detachment has detailed their enforcement work over the holiday, which showed a few run-ins with impaired boaters and drivers.
The first notable stop was on Friday, around 8:20 p.m. on Isabella Lake in Seguin Township.
The marine unit conducted a vessel check on the lake, and when they spoke with the operator, they noticed a smell of alcohol. The boater subsequently failed an alcohol screening test, and was taken to the detachment for more testing.
The 43 year old man from Seguin Township is charged with operation while impaired, and will be in court in Parry Sound on August 29th.
The marine unit also suspended one driver’s license for three days, related to alcohol, and issued sixteen offence notices involving the Liquor License Act and the Canada Shipping Act.
On Saturday, officers stopped a vehicle along Mall Drive around 12:46 a.m. in Parry Sound due to a light infraction. When they noticed a smell of alcohol, the driver was screened and failed. He was taken to the detachment for more testing, and is now facing operation while impaired and having alcohol in their system while a novice driver.
The 38-year-old man from Whitestone Township will be in court in Parry Sound on August 9th.
The last notable stop was on Sunday, around 10:56 p.m. Officers in Carling Township stopped a vehicle on Dillon Road to check the driver’s sobriety after seeing erratic driving. The driver then failed an alcohol screening test, and is facing operation while impaired and alcohol in the system while being a novice driver.
The 29 year old man from Etobicoke will be in court on September 5th in Parry Sound.
The detachment also announced they have charged their 40th impaired driver for 2019.
