HUNTSVILLE, ON – A new affordable housing initiative in Huntsville has completed its first phase.
Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North announced the conclusion of framing, sheathing and rough grading at the homes being built on Irene Street.
Phase Two will involve closing in the structure with windows, doors and shingles as the organization targets a move-in date of November 1st.
The Rotary Club of Huntsville continues to be an outstanding supporter of Habitat’s many projects. The charitable group pledged $50,000 total for the project and delivered $15,000 at the recent Rotary DockFest. It was the second installment from the Rotary.
CEO for Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North, Kimberly Woodcock is excited about the Generation Homes initiative.
“This project will provide families with much-needed affordable housing,” said Woodcock. “By employing high-efficiency materials and environmentally responsible approach we’ll be able to offer family substantial cost-savings. We also hope that the energy-efficient nature of our build will open the door to future funding opportunities.”
Upon completion, there will be two Habitat homes allowing four families to become self-reliant as they join the Habitat family.
