Four more boil advisories issued in Algonquin Park

ALGONQUIN PARK, ON – Campers are being warned about a new batch of boil advisories.

On the heels of Ontario Parks issuing a boil advisory at the Pog Lake Campground, the provincial agency issued advisories for four more campgrounds.

All told, there are advisories at Pog Lake, Lake of Two Rivers, the Two Rivers Store, Mew Lake, and Canisbay Lake campground.

All of the campsites and store are along the Highway 60 corridor. The sites with advisories are all within a 15KM of each other.

These advisories were issued because the levels of bacteria in the water are high enough that it could cause people to get sick if they consumed it.

All of the advisories are in place until further notice, so campers and visitors are encouraged to boil the water for at least one minute to kill the bacteria in the water or bring their own water for the time being.

Although these advisories are in place, camping is still open at those sites.
