Driver who fled after hitting parked car gets multiple impaired charges

PARRY SOUND, ON – An investigation into a hit-and-run collision has landed a driver in custody for being impaired, among other charges.

Parry Sound provincial police said in a release the incident happened back on June 3rd. Officers responded to a collision on Healey Lake Road in the Archipelago Township.

Police said a driver of one vehicle struck another parked car and then drove away. Officers were able to locate the culprit thanks to witnesses and arrested him just before 10 p.m.

After speaking with the driver, police said it was obvious he had been drinking alcohol. He was charged with two counts of impaired, obstruction, failing to remain and three other infractions.

37-year-old from Collingwood was released with a court date on July 4th. His license was suspended and vehicle impounded for a week.

This was the West Parry Sound Detachment’s 22 impaired driving arrest this year.

Police reminded the public that it is best not to drive with any amount of drugs or alcohol in their system. They added if anyone suspects a driver is impaired to call 911 and report them immediately.
