Lieutenant Governor coming to MacTier

Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor will be in MacTier tomorrow.

Elizabeth Dowdeswell will be making a few stops during her visit. Firstly, she’ll be meeting with Mayor Peter Koetsier and then attending a ribbon cutting of the Royal Hudson 2850 steam train mural at 7 Front Street at 11:15am. The mural commemorates the 80th anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth arriving in MacTier to meet the community on that train.

At noon there will be an open reception at the MacTier Public Library where people can meet and chat with the Lieutenant Governor which will be followed by a roundtable discussion with the mayor and members of council at 12:45pm.

After that Dowdeswell is scheduled to tour the MacTier Heritage Railway Museum at 1:30pm before ending her day with a visit to MacTier Public School. The visit will focus on discussing United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

This will be Dowdeswell’s 81st official civic visit during her term.
