New program will see restaurants display health inspection results

It’s going to be easier for you to see the results of a restaurant’s health inspection.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is launching a program called “Check&GO!”. Check&GO! involves colour-coded signs that will be displayed by restaurants.

The health unit says after an inspection the establishment will be given one of three signs that says whether the place was given a pass, a conditional pass, or is closed because of a failing grade. The sign has to be posted at or near the restaurant’s main public entrance and has to be clearly visible to the public.

“The purpose of Check&Go! is to help individuals make informed decisions to protect their health and to share information about health inspection results,” said David Perrault, Senior Public Health Inspector. “When individuals see the sign at a local establishment they know the establishment has been inspected and what the results of the inspection are.”

To learn more about the program visit the health unit’s website. Check&Go! launches on June 3rd. In the meantime, you can see health inspection results for yourself by following this link.
