Students from all over are being encouraged to attend an expo in Parry Sound.

A partnership between West Parry Sound Regional Economic Development Collaborative and INSPIREtech Canada has led to the second annual Tech Expo for Students coming to the Stockey Centre.

The expo is scheduled for May 31st and students from the Near North, Trillium Lakelands, Simcoe and the Catholic Muskoka District School Boards are invited to attend. The idea behind the Expo is to educate and inspire students to consider a STEM career path. STEM being Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Organizers say that this one-day event “will deliver High Impact presentations from leading Industry Experts and Post-Secondary Institutions; promoting the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math.”

“After the overwhelming success of the Robotics Demo last November at the Bobby Orr Centre, we are thrilled to continue the movement towards S.T.E.M. and coding course curriculum in our High schools”, said Glen Barnden, West Parry Sound regional Economic Development Officer.

“We look forward to the potential to continue classes in Canadore College ultimately providing highly skilled local labour for our growing manufacturing sector. Opportunity is the key”, said Barnden, “sustainability and growth of our local businesses is the goal.”

INSPIREtech is based out of Parry Sound.
