OPP running background check clinics

The OPP is running a pair of vulnerable sector check clinics.

This gives people who need a background check for working or volunteering with local agencies the chance to get it done while they wait. Both are happening at the West Parry Sound OPP detachment. The first is on Tuesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The second is the following Tuesday, the 14th, also from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

People who are looking to get a background check need to bring a letter from the organization asking for the check and two forms of I.D, at least one with a photo.  Health cards and social insurance cards cannot be accepted. You can find all the forms you need at the OPP’s website by searching “Vulnerable Sector Check.” It costs $25 and you’re asked to bring the exact fee.

If you have lived outside of the West Parry Sound OPP Detachment area in the last five years or if you require fingerprints as part of the process the OPP says it may not be able to fully complete the record check that day but will still be available to start the process and get your check to you as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please call the OPP detachment between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday – Friday at (705)746-4225 ext. 5800 and speak to our administrative staff.
