Flood warnings reduced

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has updated its flood conditions for the region.

The Muskoka Watershed remains under a flood warning and the Magnetawan River Watershed is under a flood watch. The rest of the MNRF’s Parry Sound District has been reduced to a Watershed Conditions Statement for Water Safety. Each of these will remain in place until May 10th.

The MNRF is warning people that the higher than normal water levels are extremely dangerous. You need to be very careful around area bodies of water and avoid them altogether if possible. Banks and shorelines are extremely slippery and unstable which could lead to you or someone you love falling into the cold, fast-moving water.

The ministry is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions and will issue more updates as needed.
